Action

Statutory action in line with legislation

General Comments

North American bark beetle with a limited distribution in that continent. It is only recorded to attack Jeffrey pine, a species not widely grown in the UK. The beetle mainly causes impacts when trees are under stress, e.g. drought. Though the beetle poses little risk to the UK, it is included in the Plant Health legislation under “non-European Scolytidae spp.” and therefore action would be taken in line with the legislation.
