Import Charges
UK government policy is to recover, where possible, the costs of carrying out official checks to manage risks arising from commercial activity. This includes the costs of inspections to reduce risks to plant health from trade in plants and plant produce. The EU Plant Health Directive also requires Member States to recover the costs of carrying out documentary and identity checks and physical inspections on consignments of plant health controlled material imported from outside the EU, which helps to achieve a level playing field in import charges. Further information can be found in the Plant Health Guide for Importers. Details of the fees payable are available here.
Tips on understanding our invoices
- The importer declared on PEACH will receive the invoice for payment.
- The first words on each line of the invoice will begin with an 'IMP Code' together with a brief description - please see explanation of these codes.
- The second set of digits is the PEACH application number. There may be several PEACH applications relating to each line - unfortunately the system can only display a maximum number of characters, so these may not all appear on the printed invoice. However, there should be at least one PEACH application number present from which you can obtained the DUCR number. This will identify all the related PEACH applications.
- If you would like a customer reference to appear on the invoice so that you can more easily identify the consignment, you will need to enter this in the 'customer invoice reference' box on the PEACH notification e.g. the Airway Bill Number.
- The final information is the date the consignment was declared available for inspection and the post code of the place of inspection.
