Childcare

Fera provides a range of childcare related benefits:

Maternity and paternity leave

Fera has generous maternity leave provision. Depending on your length of service you are entitled to up to 26 weeks maternity leave on full pay plus 26 weeks additional maternity leave, the first 13 weeks of which are paid as Statutory Maternity Leave.

Fera also provides 15 days paid paternity leave.

The aim of the Pregnancy Accreditation Programme is to improve conditions for pregnant women in the workplace, and to heighten employee awareness of an employer's match to this issue. To gain accreditation employers have to demonstrate that they provide appropriate facilities for rest, time off for antenatal appointments and provision of pregnancy information.

Adoption leave

Adoption leave mirrors the entitlements under the above Maternity Leave arrangements however either parent is entitled to it. Like with Maternity Leave, you must notify your Line Manager of your intention to take adoption leave at least 15 weeks prior to the start.

You will be eligible for paid special leave (up to a maximum of three days) to cover the appointments with a child's current carers/social workers/ and the final adoption matching panel. These three days can be distributed as you wish according to your own specific requirements.

Childcare salary sacrifice arrangement

A salary sacrifice scheme enables you to take part of your salary in childcare vouchers which are both free from tax and National Insurance contributions and is open to all employees who pay for childcare, either on or off site.

Staff can take up to £55 per week or £243 per month of salary in vouchers. With an NI rate of 9.4% and £55 of salary per week taken in vouchers, staff will save between £915 and £1195 per annum dependant on the level of income tax paid.
